With the launch of its Institute for Applied Agriculture, Vermont Technical College sought to establish itself as the premier higher education institution in the region.
Denterlein launched GroundWork, a four-part conference series designed to position VT Tech as a leader and convener on issues related to agriculture, food production, waste disposal and energy production.
GroundWork brought opinion leaders, policymakers, educators and employers to the Vermont Tech campus. The event earned coverage from Vermont’s mainstream media and significantly increased the school’s visibility. The fourth conference marked the beginning of a conversation among Vermont’s higher education institutions and policy makers about how to develop a national model of agriculture education to meet the needs of the workforce.
